In October LandLearn staff, Kathryn, Jessica and
Ann attended the Australian Association for Environment
Education (AAEE) conference in Bunbury WA. They
delivered a paper and workshop on Creating Sustainable
Futures, the project LandLearn has undertaken
with Natalie McDonagh of McDonagh Design. (See
the Term 3 2006
newsletter for information about that project.)
The
Conference provided us with exciting, thought-provoking
professional learning and discussions with participants
from across Australia and beyond. For teachers
there were stimulating workshops on Sustainable
Schools, eco literacy and innovative approaches
to learning and teaching sustainability. One highlight
was the opportunity to observe and hear from the
parallel Millennium Kids Conference. Their insights
on and contributions to the adult Conference were
challenging and practical and they were obviously
having lots of fun too.

Professional
Development
LandLearn's professional development program in
2006 has been extremely well attended with teachers
coming from across the state to attend and with
many events booked out. The 'Learning in the Garden'
PD has been a particularly popular series this
year for schools wishing to integrate edible gardening
into their curriculum connecting it with sustainable
agriculture as the source of our food. Many clusters
and individual schools have taken advantage of
LandLearn's exceptional reputation for running
PDs, requesting workshops tailored to meet their
needs.
If
you have identified themes for which school staff
would like to increase or update their skills
and knowledge or if you would like further information
