A new Landlearn resource
Image: : Landlearning CD Cover

‘LandLearning’ is a teaching and learning resource containing activities aligned to VELS, available on CD. These activities are arranged around four themes - biodiversity, gardens, pest management and children’s literature. All the activities can be printed from the CD and used in the classroom.

‘Learning in the Garden’ activities help teachers integrate edible gardens into broader curriculum goals. The activities show how food and fibre link with sustainable agriculture and natural resource management.

‘Biodiversity in Balance’ activities explore the balance between agricultural production and wildlife conservation in the classroom, school grounds and community.

‘Fruit Fly Frenzy’ contains classroom activities to explore the link between Queensland Fruit Fly in agriculture and school/home gardens, helping to increase awareness of the fruit fly in the community.

‘Fact and Fiction 2’ activities are designed to encourage and support teachers with literacy activities that link to school gardens, healthy eating, indigenous culture, farming, climate and changes in the landscape.

‘LandLearning’ is available at a cost of $15. Email landlearn.program@dpi.vic.gov.au or contact LandLearn on 5824 5523 to purchase this new resource.
